Seamus and Colm Black are father and son, firefighters, and friends.
Together, they reflect on responding to Annunciation on August 27, what first responders carry home from the worst days of other people’s lives, and why neither of them is interested in being called a hero.
For them, the heroes were the teachers and children who protected one another. Their job was to show up, give everything they had and ask for nothing in return.
